This study focuses on highlighting the information and accessibility gaps faced by high-school students while they apply and make decisions on higher education. Current information sources give fragmented, scattered, and conflicting information. To tackle this issue, our group decided to create a peer-to-peer mentorship platform to connect high school students with current college students. This platform is focused on creating a space for authentic reviews, personalised guidance, and a safe mentoring environment. Using surveys, we backed our problem and the gaps identified. Using several platforms, we were also able to create the platform. Our results again back the problem, define the gap, and offer a solution.
UniWise is developed to be a platform to cater to the existing gap in accessibility and authenticity of undergraduate and postgraduate studies for prospective college students, this is achieved through the peer to peer mentorship design of the solution. In essence, the platform aims to provide the prospective students with direct access to verified college mentors fully equipped to inculcate real, experience based insights in terms of admission processes, scholarships, academic programs, and campus life.
